Active desktop, wallpapers, themes, are all customizable and provide a fresh, personal look for your PC. If you ever wanted to take it step further, WindowBlinds might the answer you've been searching for.
WindowsBlinds is application that allows you to shape and mold Windows interface in any way you want it. The program comes with all the essential tools for you to create your own skins. For complete change of your graphical environment you can change the look of the folders, files and other commonly used icons.
With traditional Windows themes you are used to certain limitations, and with WindowBlinds these limitations no longer exist. With some themes, windows function buttons like close maximize and minimize no longer have to be attached to the upper right corner of the window. Sound effects, file transfer animation, start button animation, can all be customized beyond what you would ever expect.
The program comes pre-loaded with half a dozen skins. Additionally you can download hundreds of new skins via one of Stardock's websites. Program's interface integrates options to install skins from the web, or from any location on your hard drive.
WindowBlinds can dramatically change your interface and because of all the extra effects associated with these new themes, slower machines can suffer from the added CPU overhead. But any id range machine, with decent amount ram should work without any noticeable slowdowns.
There is also a plethora of options and toggles to improve performance and compatibility with skins and your applications. For example, you can set WindowBlinds not to re-skin particular applications, or not to use certain effects, transitions and animations when certain tasks are performed. So you can take it as far as you want, the flexibility is certainly there.
